The Quarterback Club consists of parents of players, Fernandina Beach High School coaches and leaders from the community. The Quarterback Club was established for the sole purpose of enhancing, promoting and providing support to the football program. In order to ensure that the purpose is achieved, the club is asking alumni, fans and friends to become members or donate to the club. The monies from donations will be used for much needed equipment, holding an end-of-year awards banquet, fund the maintenance of the football stadium, travel expenses, provide meals for the players as needed and other items deemed necessary to have a productive and successful program.

"We would like to thank everyone that supported the Quarterback Club this past season and look forward to greater success in the coming season," Willis said. "We are full of excitement and have high expectations for the upcoming season, and we look forward to working with Coach Brown and his staff."

The Quarterback Club is a not-for-profit organization filed with the State of Florida, monitored by an Executive Board but not affiliated with the High School. The Quarterback Club is recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization by the Internal Revenue Service, which means that part of your donations may be tax deductable.

Discussion:


Meeting Called to order by President Todd Willis at 6:05pm.  Reading of the last meeting minutes was waived.


Officer Election for next year:  Todd announced that the officers would need to be installed for next year.  Anyone wishing to run for board officer should get in touch with him.  If anyone would like to nominate anyone, contact Todd.  Kim announced she would not run again for Secretary.

Varsity Record:  Our final record is 6-4.  This is 2 winning seasons in a row.  The first time since 1986.  Go Pirates!

Bowl Game:  Coach Brown reports there is a possibility of playing in a bowl game since we're not going to the playoffs.  He'll know more by Wednesday.  Several members asked about the possibility of FBHS hosting a bowl game.

Year-end Banquet:  A discussion was had about repeating the banquet at the Ritz Carlton.  Todd stated the Ritz Carlton was only available Dec 12th and 13th.  Many parents stated numerous players are involved in basketball, soccer, and wrestling on those dates.

Several parents had suggestions on where to have the banquet and times.  They will be calling to check availability and space available.  This information will be reported at next Monday's meeting.

Pop Warner:  Fernandina Pop Warner wants to borrow our stencils and the machine to paint their field for Friday night's game.  Timmy Yonn and Dave Crow voiced their appreciation for everything that Roy Byrd has done to help FBHS and will take the equipment and help on Friday night.

Thank you:  Chip Townsend from First Coast Community Bank sent a thank-you email to Todd thanking the QB Club for their support of the FBHS Pirate Football team.

Scholarship Information


The Quarterback Club of Fernandina Beach

offers a scholarship each year to a football graduate of Fernandina Beach High School. The Executive Board of the Quarterback Club of Fernandina Beach evaluates three potential student/athletes from the recommendations received from the Football Coaching Staff. One Student/athlete is awarded based on effort, intangibles, leadership and overall character.

Local Scholarship is for FBHS Senior Football Students/Althletes only!


To apply for scholarship, applicants must ensure that the following documents are in the hands of Fernandina Beach High School Guidance Office no later than February 7.


  • Completed Application
  • Official Fernandina Beach High School Transcripts
  • Official SAT, PSAT, or ACT scores.
  • Letter of Reference from Fernandina Beach High School Faculty Member
  • Letter of Reference from Employer, Community Leader or Family Friend
  • 200 Word Essay : "Please explain your contributions to the Fernandina Beach High School Football Team along with, advice to underclassmen to help make them a better student/athlete."

Criteria for Qualifications


  • Minimum Core GPA 2.5.
  • No Criminal Record.
  • Letter of Acceptance from University

Funding/ Award


  • The Quarterback Club of Fernandina Beach Scholarship funding will be provided directly to the University of Acceptance.
  • Award Certificate will be presented during the Fernandina Beach High School annual Academic Awards Banquet.
